when retouching images that have been shot with the intention of being used in fashion magazines, webitorials, etc… i always retouch the original SOOC [straight out of camera] image. one the original work is done, then I work with the file and utilize colour shift, toning and other adjustments to get a fashion forward image, one appropriate for publication. each post-production file can take a long time to finalize, but luckily i’m an efficient editor and have streamlined my workflow into a thing of art =)
