I picked up a fun small strobe modifier a few weeks ago online and it finally arrived this week, so… as usual, I pulled my favorite guinea pig [my hubby T] in to help me test it out.
The ring flash basically redirects your speedlite light to the reflectors in the ring flash and they provide a more rounded burst of light instead of the sharp, pin light of the speedlite by itself. It’s only a $40 investment, so I figured if it wasn’t gonna work for me, no big deal… It didn’t do too badly in my humble opinion and I think this could really come in hand on those more fashion oriented shoots where you often see that ring light effect with strobes. I’ve included some samples below:
Technical details: 100 ISO, 1/250 shutter, f/2.8 in a pretty dimly lit room. Not bad for $40…
