Shot on the weekend…
This cool shot was taken during the National Public Works Week Open House at the Richmond Public Works Yard open house on May 15, 2010.
The open house is loads of fun for kids because they get to climb all over the big trucks and diggers, but for me, the best part is the hot rods and vintage collector cars the City motorheads bring out for the day. Many of these cars in the parking lot of the Works Yards are owned and maintained by our City’s ‘outside’ staff of mechanics and truck drivers. I love their chrome, gleaming paint, the shapes and curves of the car bodies and their wicked engines. They are so sparkly and clean you could eat off of them – not that the guys would let you do THAT!
